During the second semester of the year 2022 we started again with our Tree Planting program: “Plant Trees, Plant Life”, in the Municipality of Chía. During these planting activities we have been accompanied by students and parents from different grades of our institution, in order to share a morning to contribute to the protection, restoration and promotion of a sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. As a statistic, to understand the importance of the tree planting program, we must take into account that every hour, 0.14 hectares are cut down in Colombia. Rochester School has 2.8 hectares, which means that every 20 hours, an area equivalent to that of our school is cut down. During the current school year, we have planted 2900 native trees in different lots of the Municipality of Chía, in addition to the 8850 trees we have planted since 2019.
Thanks to our actions we contribute to mitigate the effects of CO2 emissions and rethink our daily actions to make them sustainable. Likewise, with the planting of the 11750 native trees, it is evident how our community acts in a concrete way to contribute to the recovery of the natural areas that surround us. Colegio Rochester Contribuyendo a la Sostenibilidad en Chía
En el segundo semestre del año 2022 iniciamos nuevamente con nuestro programa de Siembra de Árboles, Siembra Vida en el Municipio de Chía. Durante estas jornadas de siembras nos han acompañado estudiantes y padres de familia de diferentes grados de nuestra institución con el propósito de compartir una mañana en la cual aportamos a la protección, restauración y promoción del uso sostenible de los ecosistemas terrestres. Como dato estadístico, para comprender la importancia del programa de siembra de árboles, hay que tener en cuenta que cada hora se talan 0.14 hectáreas en Colombia. El Colegio Rochester tiene 2.8 hectáreas, esto significa, que cada 20 horas se tala un área equivalente a la de nuestro Colegio. Durante el presente año escolar hemos plantado 2900 árboles nativos en diferentes lotes del Municipio de Chía, los cuales se suman a los 8850 árboles que hemos sembrado desde el 2019. Gracias a nuestra acciones contribuimos a mitigar los efectos de las emisiones de CO2 y a repensar nuestras acciones diarias para que sean sostenibles. Así mismo, con la siembra de los 11750 árboles nativos se evidencia como nuestra comunidad actúa de manera concreta a contribuir a la recuperación de las áreas naturales que nos rodean.
