This month in Kindergarten we have been joining forces to work towards student\u2019s Developmental Visual Learning. As we learned from Dr. Steve Ingersoll\u2019s conference, helping children to develop their vision is fundamental for those pre-writing and more cognitive-demanding skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Vision is a very complex skill that requires the movement of specific muscles in the eye. In order to develop these muscles, children need to develop their eye\/hand\/body coordination. We started this year working on body\/coordination activities and we have been building things up in order to get to hand\/eye coordination.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To work on body coordination, Students have been participating from fun games such as walking around with a ballon, throwing and catching the ball, understanding and balancing body forces, playing in the park\u2019s new climbing wall, all these through very fun and cooperative activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Finally, in order to target those specific eye muscles, students have been working on more difficult tasks such as completing pictures, building models and copying images and small words.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We are happy to share pictures of some activities that have been very successful and fun in the classroom. We also think that no matter the age, we should never stop focusing our efforts to help our students have a healthy learning environment that\u2019s fun and engaging. We hope these ideas are useful for you too!<\/p>\n

Durante nuestro primer mes de clases, hemos unido fuerzas para trabajar en pro de el Desarrollo y Aprendizaje Visual. Como aprendimos en la charla del Doctor Steve Ingersoll, es muy importante trabajar en el desarrollo viso-motor, para que los estudiantes puedan desarrollar habilidades m\u00e1s complejas como la coordinaci\u00f3n viso-manual.<\/em><\/p>\n

Para trabajar en la coordinaci\u00f3n motora, los estudiantes han estado participando de juegos como, caminar con un globo, lanzar y atrapar la pelota, comprender c\u00f3mo mantener el balance del cuerpo, jugar en la nueva muro de escalar del parque, todo esto a trav\u00e9s de actividades que son divertidas e involucran el trabajo en equipo.<\/em><\/p>\n

Finalmente, para trabajar en el fortalecimiento de los m\u00fasculos oculares, los estudiantes tambi\u00e9n han trabajado actividades m\u00e1s retadoras como: Completar, im\u00e1genes, construir modelos, y copiar im\u00e1genes y palabras cortas.<\/em><\/p>\n

Estamos felices de poder compartir fotos de algunas actividades que han sido divertidas y exitosas en el sal\u00f3n de clase. Tambi\u00e9n creemos que, sin importar la edad, debemos seguir focalizando nuestro esfuerzo en el desarrollo de ambientes de aprendizaje divertidos, saludables y participativos \u00a1Esperamos que estas ideas tambi\u00e9n sean de gran ayuda para toda nuestra comunidad!<\/em><\/p>\n
